What is a Business Administrator?

Business Administrators develop a highly transferable set of skills, knowledge, and behaviours that are valued across all sectors. Apprentices learn to manage projects, organise workflows, maintain accurate records, support teams and managers, and communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders. Overall, this apprenticeship equips learners with practical, workplace-ready skills that make them adaptable and effective in a wide range of professional environments.

Business Administration Standard Information

  • To go through gateway, the following criteria have to be met:

    • The apprentice has achieved English and mathematics at level 2.

    • The apprentice has completed a portfolio demonstrating all of the required knowledge, skills and behaviour of the apprenticeship.

  • The assessment approach for this standard has three methods:

    • Knowledge Test.

    • Portfolio-based Interview.

    • Project Presentation.

  • A 10–15 minute presentation with a further 10-15 minutes for a Q&A session. The apprentice will deliver a presentation on a project they have completed or a process they have improved. This project should be started at month 9 of the apprenticeship and must be completed prior to gateway being triggered.

    The apprentice will upload this to ACE360 for review.

  • 50 equally weighted multiple-choice questions to be completed within 60 minutes. The assessment should be passed before the apprentice moves onto the interview and presentation.

  • A 30-45 minute interview, based around the portfolio of learning. The apprentice will upload their portfolio to ACE360 one month prior to the interview date, the portfolio should provide at least one piece of evidence for each of the minimum knowledge, skills and behaviours.

Start of Apprenticeship

  • Resit = No new learning.

  • Retake = Extra learning.

  • Gain experience, contribute to admin tasks, work on improvement project from month 9.

  • Train and develop KSBs.

  • Complete English & Maths, if needed.

  • Certificate awarded.

Gateway

  • Employer & training provider confirm you're ready for assessment.

  • Portfolio submitted (At least 1 month prior to interview).

  • Assessment window begins.
