What is a Network Engineer?
Network Engineers play a key role in ensuring secure and efficient business communication by designing, installing, maintaining, and supporting communication systems. This apprenticeship develops apprentices’ expertise in network configuration, cloud technologies, administration, and monitoring, helping organisations minimise disruption and maintain reliable connectivity.

Network Engineer Standard Information

To go through gateway, the following criteria have to be met:
The apprentice has completed training covering the knowledge, skills and behaviour of the apprenticeship.
The apprentice has achieved English and Mathematics at level 2.
The apprentice has completed a portfolio demonstrating all of the required knowledge, skills and behaviour of the apprenticeship.

The assessment approach for this standard has two methods:
Simulation Assessment and Questioning.
Professional Discussion underpinned by portfolio of evidence.

The simulation must take up to a maximum of 4 hours.
The apprentice will have 2 weeks to complete and upload a simulation to Notebook.
There will be a question and answer session with an assessor to discuss the simulation.
The questioning lasts 30 minutes.
The assessor will ask at least 6 questions.

Lasts for 60 minutes.
The assessor will ask at least 8 questions.
A portfolio of evidence must be compiled before the EPA gateway.
Apprentice Journey
Enrol on programme.
Portfolio and off-the-job training begins.
Start of Apprenticeship
Training in design, config, testing and troubleshooting.
Portfolio evidence gathered throughout.
Practical projects using real and virtual networks.
Complete English & Maths, if needed.
Resit = No new learning.
Retake = Extra learning.
All EPA components to be completed within 6 months.
Resits / Retakes (if needed)
24 months
Results & Certification
Pass any component = Pass.
Distinction all components = Distinction.
Certificate awarded.
Gateway
Functional Skills achieved.
Employer & training provider confirm you're ready for assessment.
Gateway meeting held and portfolio submitted.
Assessment
Simulation Assessment 1: Network Failure (7hrs).
Simulation Assessment 2: Network Optimisation (7hrs).
