What Does the End-Point Assessment (EPA) Involve?
At the end of the apprenticeship, learners must complete a rigorous Apprenticeship Assessment to demonstrate their readiness. For the Level 3 Engineering Maintenance Technician, this includes:
Interview underpinned by a portfolio of evidence
Duration: At least 75 minutes interview with an independent assessor.
Questions: The assessor will ask at least 9 questions during or after the observation. The questions will be about certain aspects of your occupation.
The apprentice will need to compile a portfolio of evidence before the EPA gateway.
Observation with questions
You will be observed by an independent assessor completing your work.
It will last at least 4 hours and they will ask you at least 4 questions.
Multiple-choice test
40 multiple choice questions.
60 minutes to complete.
Gateway Requirements
To move into the Assessment stage, the apprentice must have:
Completed a minimum of 42 months on-programme training.
Achieved Level 2 English and Mathematics.
Completed a Portfolio of Evidence – This underpins the interview and must demonstrate how the apprentice has met the knowledge, skills, and behaviours outlined in the standard.
